Short version
Wayfr needs very little information about you. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
When you practise
- Your answers. When you answer by voice, your phone records the answer and sends the recording to our server. Our server sends it to ElevenLabs, a speech service, which turns it into text. We never save the recording: it is deleted as soon as the text comes back. ElevenLabs may keep a copy for a limited time under its own privacy policy. You can also type your answers instead.
- Checking your answers. We send the question and your answer text to TypeSafe, an AI service that checks whether the answer is clear and complete. For now we check answers with simple rules on our own server. We do not save your answers.
- Daily counts. We count how many answers we check each day, so that we can limit use. If you have a pass, we count per pass. If you use the free practice, we count per internet (IP) address. The counts reset every day.
- The officer's voice is a recording made with ElevenLabs, a voice service. Only the officer's questions were sent to make it.
When you buy
- Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
- Stripe tells us your email address and that you paid. We keep your email with your access code so you can open your pass again on another phone.
Cookies
- wayfr_access: keeps your pass open on this phone for up to 30 days.
- wayfr_free: remembers that you used today's free practice stop. It stays on your phone for 2 days.
- PostHog (analytics): counts which pages are visited and which buttons are used, such as starting practice or buying. It stores an anonymous ID in your browser. We use it only to see whether the site works for drivers.
When you contact us
Your name, email and message are sent to our support inbox (Google Workspace). If sending fails, the message is kept on our server until we read it.
Other services that see some data
- Railway hosts the website and may keep basic request logs, which are technical records of the pages your phone asked for.
- Google Fonts provides the letters on the page, so your browser connects to Google.
- Stripe, TypeSafe, ElevenLabs and PostHog, as described above.
How long we keep it
We keep your email and access code while Wayfr runs, so you can always restore a pass. Ask us on the contact page and we will delete them.
Who Wayfr is for
Wayfr is made for adult commercial drivers.
